about bernardo

Bernardo Wallis marries ebenisterie with geometric abstraction. He follows the vast oeuvre of geometric abstract masters that are pillars of modern Latin American art and design.

Wallis’s migration process to the Dominican Republic ignites his artistic career. Born into a family of architects and art collectors, intellectuals and creators, he develops the art of carpentry with surgical precision. He upcycles materials and attempts to preserve the marks of the process while exploring constructions and deconstructions of surfaces. These visible and imperfect marks as the materials ‘become’ are part of the dialogue and story of his own journey as an artist. Wallis geometry, ‘Huesos’, made its debut at the XXX Dominican Republic Art Biennale in 2023

Bernardo is a Venezuelan artist, living and working in Dominican Republic.
